Darjelling and Gangtok is one of the most frequened hill stations in India.It is mostly visited by weekenders and some adventurous who head for the mighty trek to Sandakphu.Well even the unique blend of tradition and modernity draws in many travelers.

Day 1Arrive Bagdogra / New Jalpaiguri - Gangtok (135 Km/ Approx. 4 Hours Drive)

Welcome to 'Hills of East ' tour! On arrival at the airport in Bagdogra/ railway station in New Jalpaiguri, you will be met and transferred to the hotel in Gangtok.The rest of the day is at leisure for independent activities.

Day 3Gangtok

Embark on an excursion to Tsomgo Lake followed by a visit to Baba Mandir.This morning after breakfast, proceed for an excursion to Tsomgo Lake, also known Changu Lake in Sikkim, one of the rare lakes formed from a glacier. Situated at an altitude of 3,657.60 metres above sea level, this tranquil lake near Gangtok is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Sikkim and is known for its fabled beauty and considered holy by the inhabitants of the region. It is also a great place to explore the unique fauna and flora, particularly the migratory birds which fly here in the beginning of the spring and remain until fall. This Lake generally remains frozen during the winters and is covered in colourful blooming flowers in the late spring. Note: To visit Tsomgo Lake one has to obtain a permit directly in Gangtok. Timing will depend on the issuance of permit. Later, visit the Baba Harbhajan Singh Memorial Temple (Baba Mandir), erected in memory of Baba Harbhajan Singh who was a Sikh soldier in the Indian army stationed at Nathu La pass in Sikkim. The rest of the day is at leisure for independent activities.

Day 5Pelling - Darjeeling (115 Km / Approx. 5-6 Hours Drive)

Transfer from hotel in Pelling to hotel in Darjeeling; en route enjoy a sightseeing tour of Pelling.This morning proceed to Darjeeling, popularly known as 'Queen of the Hills' and one of the most magnificent hill stations in India.En route enjoy a sightseeing tour of Pelling, covering the Pemayangtse Monastery, Rimbi Waterfalls, Hydro Project and Khecheopalri Lake.On arrival, check in to the hotel to Darjeeling.The rest of the day is at leisure to explore the beautiful city.

Day 7Depart Darjeeling

Today, bid farewell to your 'Hills of East ' tour, as you are transferred to the airport in Bagdogra / railway station in New Jalpaiguri for your onward journey.

Day 2Gangtok

Enjoy a sightseeing tour of Gangtok.Today post breakfast, proceed for a full day sightseeing tour of Gangtok. Visit the Rumtek Monastery, built by Rangjung Dorje the 16th Karampa Lama in 1959. After he fled Tibet, the Monastery was functioned as his home in exile. The flowing streams of water, Snow-capped mountains, the proximity of the river and the silence of the valley give the monastery a tranquil and peaceful environment. Later, visit the Banjhakri Falls and Energy Park, located in the outskirts of Gangtok, which is one of the most popular tourist sites in East Sikkim. Its main attraction is the pristine waterfalls, which plunges down with intense force from a height of almost 19,200 metres. Also visit, Do Drul Chorten the Buddhist Stupa situated in Gangtok. Thereafter, proceed to visit the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology which was established in 1958 and has been promoting the study of Tibet and its culture since then. The study includes the religion, history, language, art, culture which overlaps with the culture of Sikkim. Continue your visit to Directorate of Handicraft and Handloom that was established as a technical institute for training and production of traditional arts and crafts with the intention to tap the employment and income generating potential of the handloom and handicrafts sector. It is also the only place in the state that helps in the preservation and propagation of languishing ethnic crafts of Rhenock, Rongli, Parakha, Pacheykhani, Padamchey, Kokolay, Tumin and Ralong.Lastly, visit the Flower Exhibition Centre which has an astounding collection of rare flowers. It conducts annual competitions and exhibitions of exotic plants and flowers. There are many rare flowers on display here, some that bloom once a year, and some that bloom just once in their lifetimeThe rest of the day is at leisure to explore the city.

Day 4Gangtok - Pelling (116 Km / Approx. 5 -6 Hours Drive)

This morning post breakfast, drive to the hills of Pelling On arrival, check in to the hotelThe rest of the day is at leisure for various activities.

Day 6Darjeeling

Visit Tiger Hills, Ghoom Monastery and Batasia Loop.Early morning, proceed to visit Tiger Hills to watch the spectacular sunrise and it's amazing effects on Mt.Kangchenjunga.On the way back, visit Ghoom Monastery locally known as Yiga Choeling and Batasia Loop- a gigantic loop through which the Toy train makes a 360 degree turn.Enjoy a sightseeing tour of Darjeeling.After breakfast, proceed on a half-day sightseeing tour of Darjeeling visiting places like the Japanese Temple, Peace Pagoda,Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park, Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Tenzing Rock, Gombu Rock, Tibetan Refugee Self Help Center and Tea Estate.The rest of the day is at leisure for independent activities.

If your flights involve a combination of different airlines, you may have to collect your luggage on arrival at the connecting hub and register it again while checking in for the onward journey to your destination.
